The Hertz

In the International System of Units, the Hertz is the unit of frequency defined as one event or cycle per second. This unit of measurement is often used to measure the frequency of electricity and music.

The International Electrochemical Commission named the unit after Heinrich Hertz in 1935. It was later adopted by the General Conference on Weights and Measures, making the Hertz part of the International System of Units in 1960.

Some studies suggest that music played at a frequency of 432 hertz can decrease heart rate compared to 440 hertz music.
